The City of Attalla Public Works Department strives to enhance the quality of life of all the residents by providing safe, reliable, effective service consistent with the vision and goals of the community.

The City maintains all city streets within the city limits. Crews routinely inspect streets. To report a pothole, damaged sidewalk or other problem that you think needs attention, please call 256-538-7522.

Street Signage

All regulatory, warning and street signs within the City’s rights-of-way are the responsibility of the Street and Traffic Section. If you see a traffic sign that is down or damaged, please report it immediately to 256-538-7522

Trash and Brush Pickup

Bulky Waste and Brush pickups are being made daily. When one District is complete we will move on to the next and begin working that area. While we cannot guarantee a specific day for pickups to be made, we will strive to make all pickups as quickly and efficiently as possible.
The Public Work Department's hours of operation are Monday thru Friday from 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. In case of a sewer overflow or backup after 2:00 p.m. Monday - Friday, on weekends or holidays please contact the Attalla Police Department at 256-538-7837 to report your issue.

The Public Works Department closely affects day to day life for everyone in Attalla. The work our employees perform can go largely unnoticed – unless the work doesn’t get done. What Can Be Picked Up

The following items will be picked up during our routine trash pickups:

Pruned limbs

Bagged leaves, grass clippings and pine straw

Metal/wiring

Paper/cardboard

Hoses

Plastic

Glass of any kind

Cloth

Furniture

Carpet (not left by contractors)

Mattresses

What Can’t Be Picked Up

The following items will NOT be picked up by the Street Department:

Batteries and household garbage

Tires

Construction Materials – shingles, tar paper, paints, varnishes

The City of Attalla cannot pick up items left by contractors or tree trimmers/cutters
Any of the above items are the responsibility of the citizens of Attalla to dispose of properly.
