Our department includes experienced patrol officers who are the backbone of daily operations, skilled detectives focused on solving crimes and bringing justice, school resource officers (SROs) who foster safe learning environments, a highly trained K-9 unit, and administrative staff who keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

    APOSTC Physical Fitness Requirements:
    Each applicant must run one and one-half (1½) miles within 15:28 (fifteen minutes and
    twenty-eight seconds).
    Each applicant has sixty (60) seconds to complete twenty-two (22) push-ups.
    Each applicant has sixty (60) seconds to complete twenty-five (25) sit-ups.

    • Full-Time Communications Officers | Dispatcher

    Shift Schedule: 6:30pm - 6:30am

    • Part-Time & Full-Time Corrections Officers
    Key Details:
    • Training: 80-hour Jail Management Course & Less Lethal Weapons Training
    • Uniforms: Professional Appearance Required with Uniforms Provided.
    • Hours: Flexible Shifts Available (up to 29 hours/week for part-time and up to 40 hours/week for full-time) The Attalla City Jail is a 24-hour facility so hours and working shift may change as needed
    Key Duties Include:
    • Process inmates in records management and jail management.
    • Conduct thorough searches of every inmate before placement in a cell.
    • Assign cells and issue necessary items like uniforms and bedding.
    • Maintain accurate records of inmates' property.
    • Perform headcounts and complete medical questionnaires on every inmate.
    • Report any unsafe conditions a
    nd document inmate injuries.
    • Wear body cameras during key interactions and conduct regular jail checks.
